We spoke with founder and MD of Redbourn Capital, Adam Hinds about the importance of creating a circular economy starting with recycling what we use in our everyday lives. Redbourn Capital is a leading renewables and waste to energy developer

Hi Adam, could you tell us a bit about your background?

I am an experienced Investor, Advisor and Developer of projects in the Energy, Renewables and Energy from Waste industries with over 18 years’ experience in the sector. I have developed projects, advised clients, raised project finance debt and invested equity across a range of different renewables technologies and conventional power projects throughout the UK and Europe. Over the last 10 years I have been focused on the Energy from Waste sector and I’m developing processing capacity to reduce the UK’s need to landfill excess waste which has been generated by consumers.

What is a fun fact about you?

I have represented Great Britain in Duathlon at Age Group level competing in three World Championships.

Why do you think climate change and sustainability is such an important topic today?

It is one of the most pressing issues of the day due to the impact on the climate.

What do you envision your industry looking like 10 years from now?

Becoming a true circular economy where waste is firstly minimised by all stakeholders and then any necessary waste material is largely recycled. Further material which hasn’t been recycled is then processed by an Energy from Waste project which will generate sustainable heat and power to local communities and industries. Ash which is generated by the plant is also recycled and used for large scale industrial processes creating a truly circular economy.

What can the average person do to make a difference?

More recycling to reduce the amount of waste which is generated.

Thanks for sharing your insight into a circular economy, starting with waste recycling.
