Green.org sat down with Julien Uhlig, an entrepreneur, public speaker, and founder of Zero Carbon, Inc. to learn about his path of entrepreneurship and why we should stop buying things we don’t need.
Tell us a little bit about you and your background:
German-Born Serial Entrepreneur, 17 Years of Working on the most efficient way to convert waste into energy, managed numerous government projects funded by the German ministry of Economics in 16 countries. Heavily Impact driven-Won the Unicorn Pitch Battle World Cup recently, the world’s largest pitch event.
What would you do with $1 Billion dollars?
I would develop a model community that is carbon negative, zero waste, community focussed and a hub for entrepreneurship, health and connection.
Why do you think climate change and sustainability is such an important topic today?
Having worked in many countries I witnesses how we plunder the planet’s resources, destroying everything in human’s way and ultimately destroy the foundation of living on earth. We can do better-the technology is there, we are lacking the will power. We can build carbon negative communities. Change can happen.
What do you envision your industry looking like 10 years from now?
My hope is that in ten years we are talking about sustainability and impact as the foundations of every business.
What can the average person do to make a difference?
The easiest change we can do is to stop consumerism. stop buying stuff you don’t need.
