Green.org sat down with Dr. Frank Ferrer, Anesthesiologist and founder of H2Sonics, patents a new technology in alternative energy company in the production of hydrogen and high purity Aluminum Oxide.
Who is Dr. Frank Ferrer?
Dr. Ferrer is the Inventor and patent holder of our ultrasonic technology and process. His expertise in ultrasound technology derives from his background in medicine, and he has spent over five years developing and testing our process. Dr. Ferrer’s medical training was completed at Beth Israel Medical Center, Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, NYC. He was a member of the Anesthesiology Teaching Staff at San Diego Naval hospital and at the University of Puerto Rico. At the present time he is the exclusive anesthesia provider for ambulatory orthopedic care for the Yale University Health Plan at Connecticut Orthopedic Surgery Center in Branford, CT.
Dr. Ferrer has worked with leading scientists, engineers, and private companies to refine the process and formula over the last three years. The Company now believes the HPA Sonics process to be the least expensive and most environmentally friendly approach to producing high purity alumina and aluminum trihydrate in the world.
Frank, thanks for being here. Tell us a little more about the technology you are working on.
With the explosion of EV and increased Microchip production the projected demand of High Purity Alumina (HPA) will outweigh world production of HPA. This means that the conversion of all USA Car manufactures into electric vehicles will not be able to maintain a supply chain of HPA ( the separator material of lithium batteries.
HPASonics has a Patented process that can produce on site HPA and hydrogen in a cheap and fast way. As we approach the point of no return of the climate crisis the Aluminum industry should shift gears and look into the production of hydrogen. Our process generates hydrogen and HPA faster than electrolysis and with a much lesser energy expenditure ( electrolysis = 50-70 KW per kilo of H2, where as our process consumes 3-4 KW per kilo of hydrogen produced, plus 19 Kgs of HPA generated) all in le 1 1/2 Hrs. 2Al + 6H2O => 2Al( OH )3 + 3H2
Tell us a little bit about you and your background:
I am a practicing Anesthesiologist. So physics.Chemistry, and gases laws has made me interested in inventing a new way of producing Hydrogen. I am the inventor and Patent holder of a 20 yr US process Patent. We generate hydrogen faster than electrolysis and a much cheaper cost. Or other product is High Purity Alumina the separating material used in lithium batteries
What is a fun fact about you?
My hobbies are deep sea fishing.
Why do you think climate change and sustainability is such an important topic today?
Time is ticking faster against humanity because of the use of fossil fuels. Thus new technologies of creating hydrogen must be made as soon as possible.
What do you envision your industry looking like 10 years from now?
The time of the point of no return is less than 10 yrs so I pray to God that new technologies are instituted prior the coming decade.
What can the average person do to make a difference?
This is a multi prong solution the average person can help by planting trees. Saving energy. Eating less meats and more plant base proteins.
