Dylan Welch, the CEO of The Green Summit, sits down with Green Success Stories to share more about his vision for a sustainable future.

Tell us a little bit about you and your background:

I am the CEO of Green Success Stories and The Green Summit. I started Green Success Stories as a podcast and website to share with the world the latest news and leaders in renewable energy, cleantech, and sustainability. We launched The Green Summit as a way to bring our best podcast guests together, as well as our Green Success Stories audience, for a one day, fun, live, in person event.

Prior to launching Green Success Stories, I worked as a television producer in San Diego, California. I was the Executive Producer of a show that was syndicated on ABC, NBC, and CBS. During that time, I produced over 1,000 TV episodes. I left that company because I have always been passionate about being a business owner and entrepreneur.

What is a fun fact about you?

I am a boxing coach and love to Scuba Dive. I also travel a lot, and have been to over 50 countries.

Dylan Welch, CEO of Green Success Stories

Why do you think climate change and sustainability is such an important topic today?

Right now we are in a massive transition away from relying on fossil fuels for energy to utilizing renewable energy. There is still a lot of work to be done in nearly every industry all around the world, but trillions of dollars are on the line as well as people’s lives. We have seen drastic improvements in technology in the last twenty years, as well as new companies and leaders emerge, and it is slowly becoming a normal part of our lives. Every single one of us can make a difference both for the planet and ourselves. We can be more conscious of using single use plastics, and as consumers make smarter decisions with the companies we buy from. We can now invest in cleantech and renewable energy companies, as well as ESG’s, and transition into careers in sustainability if we are interested. Everything is possible if you make an effort and are passionate to do so.

What do you envision your industry looking like 10 years from now?

Industries will continue to change and technology will become more efficient. We will be using solar, wind, and other renewable energy sources, and continue phasing out of fossil fuels. I do not know if we will have made the full transition in ten years, but we will eventually find out. Electric vehicles will be the norm, gas fueled cars will be a thing of the past. Gasoline will become so expensive it will drive people to get electric vehicles when they can. Other industries will change as well. Real Estate will be more energy efficient, financial institutions will evolve more around renewable energy and cleantech investments, and the average consumer will be much more conscious of where their money is being spent and invested.

What can the average person do to make a difference?

Start with small things – use less plastic and be conscious of what you are spending your money on. Slowly build up when you can. Buy an electric car or bike. Get solar for your house. Vote for politicians that prioritize your values. Invest in mutual funds, stocks, and companies that are pushing for sustainability. Join us at The Green Summit to learn more from the leaders in renewable energy and sustainability.

Dylan, thank you for joining Green Success Stories.
