At Green.org, we believe the biggest sustainable changes come from leaders at the top, working with big businesses to make their companies more environmentally friendly. We had the chance to sit down with Camilla Rygaard-Hjalsted, who works as a board member to a variety of organizations, to learn how she is helping companies with the green transition.
As the board member, she contributes to the growth and healthy development of the company. She has a special interest in ESG work and value the company’s or organization’s green transition. Based on strong analytical and people skills, Camilla looks for business opportunities and consider how to improve services, business, branding, recruitment and governance.
Tell us a little bit about you and your background:
Innovation runs in my DNA. I am entrepreneurial and love constant development. I have worked in both Denmark and USA, and in both private and public sectors. Now I focus on sustainability – helping companies with the green transition and with ESG. My academic background includes a PhD in Geophysics and a degree in Strategic Communication.
What is a fun fact about you?
I get up in the early, cold mornings to swim in the ocean. WHY? It energizes me.
Why do you think climate change and sustainability is such an important topic today?
Because we are on a very wrong track when it comes to consumption of the world’s resources. We have to make it up for our kids and grandchildren. It is not easy, but we have the power to do it. So we must.
What do you envision your industry looking like 10 years from now?
Way more decarbonized! With concerted effort we can change route, and I believe we are about half way in 10 years.
What can the average person do to make a difference?
Consume less. Waste less. Recycle more. Be mindful of the food we eat. The transportation we take. The energy our buildings use. And what we teach our next generations about the grand scale of conserving natural resources.
