It’s easy to be green. You can use less water, turn off the lights when you’re not using them, and recycle! This blog post will show you how to live a greener life with just a few small changes. Start by checking out these 10 Easy Ways To Live A Greener Life today and learn how to be a green citizen!

How to be a green citizen

If you’re already a green citizen, then you already know that making simple changes in your daily routine can have a great impact on the planet. So how do you become a greener citizen? These 10 tips will help you make small changes to become a more sustainable citizen. Small lifestyle changes like Stop buying bottled water. Stop buying coffee that’s been mass produced. Stop buying boxed brownies and cookies. Buy local and organic. Seal your food before you recycle it. Take shorter showers. Convert your heat pump to a heat pump, if you have one. Use your car only when you need to. Reseal your sandwich bags. Buy fewer clothes. Buy local and organic. Wash your clothing in cold water.

How to live greener lives in the modern world

In my blog post How To Live Green in the Modern World, I wrote: It is nearly impossible to live a greener life than that of our ancestors. We have more possessions to fill our home, and more time to fill our hours. So how do we get the most out of our lives? My friend, Nicole, tells me that she and her partner, Michael, are the happy owners of a 2000 sq. ft. home. She says that they live a very “green lifestyle”. They use less electricity and produce less waste. They compost and garden organically. They use solar and wind power and have “energy efficient” appliances. Nicole says: The issue is that you can’t just choose one or two things to be eco-friendly. You need to implement a greener lifestyle in all areas of your life.

How to save water

Free your plastic bags. Do this by bringing reusable shopping bags with you to the store. Plastic bags do not biodegrade and are very wasteful. As plastic does not decompose, it does not break down and pollutes the environment. Recycle what you don’t need. Unfortunately most plastic recyclables end up in landfills instead of being recycled. In fact, plastic cannot be recycled to this day due to lack of a proper recycling process. Instead, most recycling places will take plastic bags or coffee stirrers to get them out of landfills. Buy items secondhand. This can be an awesome way to avoid buying new items all the time. If you do decide to buy a new item, at least make sure it can be recycled. Invest in refurbished furniture.

Easy ways to be green today

According to The Atlantic, Americans consume nearly half a trillion gallons of water each year. This is more than any other country. Sure, living in drought prone California, has a lot to do with it, but that’s no excuse. If you want to be part of the solution, you have to look at yourself. Get some water meters installed in your home, plant a few trees, and turn off the water whenever you’re not using it.

Conclusion

When it comes to helping save the world, by having the least impact, the easiest and most affordable thing you can do is just choose to be a greener and more sustainable person.
