Sustainable Travel & Community Building

As the world becomes more connected through digital technology, transportation technology, and the ability for companies and workers to connect around the planet, new companies are emerging to fulfill the needs for people who want to travel, meet new people, and further their careers. As the CEO of Green.org, I am always looking for innovating businesses that are both profitable and sustainable. I first became aware of Selina when I stayed in their hostel/hotel hybrid in Manchester, England. I was immediately impressed by their ability to create the fun, friendly atmosphere of a hostel, with the private rooms and cleanliness of a hotel. From there, I did more research into their goals of being the go-to sustainable travel & community building organization.

What is Selina?

Selina is a unique travel destination that combines the best of both worlds: adventure and relaxation. This one-of-a-kind accommodation offers travelers a chance to experience the beauty of nature, meet new people, and participate in a variety of activities all in one place.

Located in a stunning natural setting, Selina offers a range of accommodation options including private rooms, shared dorms, and glamping tents. The atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming, with a strong emphasis on community and sustainability. You’ll quickly find yourself making new friends, sharing meals, and embarking on adventures with other travelers.

There is no shortage of things to do at Selina. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker or prefer a more relaxed pace, you’ll find plenty of options to suit your taste. From surfing lessons and yoga classes to zipline adventures and horseback riding, there’s something for everyone. Additionally, the property is surrounded by some of the most stunning natural landscapes in the world, so there’s always an opportunity to explore and admire the beauty of your surroundings.

One of the standout features of Selina is the food. Not only is it fresh, healthy, and delicious, but it’s also an integral part of the travel experience. You can take cooking classes, learn about local cuisine, and even participate in farm-to-table dinners, all while enjoying the company of other travelers and local residents.

Selina’s Commitment to Sustainability

Finally, Selina’s commitment to sustainability is one of the things that sets it apart from other travel destinations. From the use of solar power and recycled materials to the focus on locally-sourced food and environmentally-friendly activities, Selina strives to make a positive impact on both the local community and the planet. Selina has a goal of using 80% of their decorations from sustainable and recycled products. When they enter new market, Selina connects with local artists, creators, and woodmakers to design the Selina to be authentic to that market, as well as provide new jobs and support local artists.

In most Selinas, there are little retail stores where travelers can buy sunglasses, bathing suits, shirts, and more. Of these, 80% of the goods are sustainable products.

In conclusion, Selina is the perfect destination for travelers looking for a unique and authentic travel experience. With its combination of adventure, relaxation, community, and sustainability, it’s sure to leave you feeling rejuvenated and inspired.
