Green Success Stories had the chance to sit down with Suma Reddy, Co-Founder and CEO of Future Acres. Suma is a three times Founder with 15+ years experience in AgTech and CleanTech. She is part of the Faculty at NYC’s School of Visual Arts, Class: “Future of Food” and holds her MBA from The Wharton School. Let’s get to know Suma better and learn about her vision for sustainable agriculture.

Suma Reddy, Co-Founder and CEO of Future Acres

Tell us about your background:

I’m the Co-Founder/CEO of Future Acres, an agricultural robotics company building sustainable, advanced, sustainable and intelligent tools for farms. I’m a 3x Agriculture Tech + Climate Tech founder (previously organic waste-to-energy, indoor farming), have built and am active in inclusive tech communities, have been awarded the White House Champion of Change for my Asian & Pacific Islander LGBTQ+ advocacy work, am on the advisory board of Scale for ClimateTech and teach Entrepreneurship for Sustainability and Resilience at the NYC School of Visual Arts.

Tell us about your vision for the future of Future Acres

Future Acres develops sustainable, advanced and intelligent robotics tools for farms. Our mission is to increase farm production efficiency, improve farmworker safety and ease, increase crop health and quality, mitigate climate and land impacts, and build opportunities and skills for farmworker communities.

Why do you think sustainability is such an important topic?

It’s directly related to human survival — the future (and well-being) of our ecosystems, societies and peoples. In particular, I’m interested in bridging technology and humanism, and ensuring that our technology and innovations are centered around concepts of equity, access and justice.

What is a fun fact about you?

I appear for a bit under 2 seconds in the Obama parody of Drake’s “Hotline Bling”

Listen to Suma Reddy discuss sustainable agriculture on The Green Podcast.
