Green Success Stories is excited to introduce Aditi Dhadwaiwale, a Mechanical Engineer who is the co-founder of a social impact organization called Just Engineering. They are creating justice in engineering by connecting engineers with non-profits to create life-changing technology.

Hi Aditi, thank you for being our guest today! Please tell us a little bit about you and your background:

I am a Mechanical Engineer working on direct air carbon capture technology at Noya. Working on social and climate change using my skills as an engineer motivate me. As a kid, I was always fascinated by machines and how they work which is why I chose to pursue mechanical engineering. While at university, I loved every aspect of this field which drove me to pursue my masters in mechanical engineering.

Working for a greater good has always been an integral part of me. From teaching underprivileged kids back in India to helping veterans get back to college during my Masters’, I enjoyed giving back to the community wherever I could.

I am also one of the cofounders of ‘Just Engineering‘ where we help communities in need to solve their problems by partnering with engineering professionals.

At Noya, my dream to work on the greater good by utilizing my passion for engineering is coming true. Climate change, in my view, is the biggest threat that our Earth is facing and I feel proud to work towards it.

What is a fun fact about you?

I am a certified yoga teacher (200 hours). I enjoy the depth and calmness that practicing yoga and meditation brings in my life.

Why do you think climate change and sustainability is such an important topic today?

Because our survival depends on it. Addressing climate change is the need of the hour and we are already seeing glimpses of our future if we don’t act on it. We tend to find answers to our existing problems by creating new pathways and technology rather than fixing the cause of the problem. Sustainability ensures that we take a step back, analyze the impact of our work and make sure that it doesn’t cause any problems like climate change in the future.

What do you envision your industry looking like 10 years from now?

I envision Noya equipment to be an integral part of all existing HVAC system and cooling towers and to be a part of HVAC engineers design plan for future constructions.

What can the average person do to make a difference?

I believe that change starts with awareness. We can be more aware of carbon footprints by incorporating three R’s – reduce, recycle, reuse. We can vote and choose good leaders who make a big difference in making policies. We can also help business which support sustainability and climate change by investing in them or buying their products.

Aditi, thank you for being our guest today and for all the work you are doing for the greater good!
