This week, Green had the chance to connect with a company called ecoSPEARS, an environmental technology company ushering in the net-zero future of environmental remediation.
ecoSPEARS designs and develops green and sustainable technologies to extract and eliminate polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), dioxins, 1,4-dioxane, polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), and other persistent toxins from the environment – FOREVER. ecoSPEARS is the exclusive licensee of green and sustainable environmental technologies developed by NASA.
The company envisions a world where clean water, food and air are accessible to everyone – however, this is not our reality today because of industrial activity and environmental destruction. The ecoSPEARS team acts as environmental warriors, deploying their technology into remediation sites to help clean up our act.
Let’s get to know more about ecoSPEARS!
What is something unique about your team?
The ecoSPEARS team comprises a group of passionate, young, and driven individuals working towards ushering in the net-zero future of environmental cleanup. Being a startup, we can truly collaborate to create an actual change in the World. We think the foosball tables and hammocks don’t make the culture at ecoSPEARS, but proper communication and transparency do.
We start every meeting by reciting our “Code of Honor” or our core values which are as stated: Always Give Value, Keep Your Integrity, Be Courageous, Be Transparent, Strive For Excellence, Be Curious, and Be Loyal. The ecoSPEARS team lives and breathes the Code of Honor; it has helped build the ecoSPEARS’ transparent family culture. We are proud of our diverse team of professionals that come from all walks of life. More than half of the ecoSPEARS team comes from minority backgrounds, and more than a third of the group is female.
The founders of ecoSPEARS, Sergie Albino and Ian Doromal come from minority backgrounds, so diversity is deeply rooted in the day-to-day culture. With diversity and inclusion built into our everyday culture, we can innovate new ideas and ways to create a better future.
Why is climate change and sustainability such an important topic today?
ecoSPEARS is a cleantech company dedicated to building a better future for all. Founded in 2017, we believe clean water is an inalienable right. We work hard to protect underserved communities facing environmental toxins in their land and water. We are focused on restoring the health and vitality of the environment for all people, including future generations to come.
What do you envision your industry looking like 10 years from now?
At ecoSPEARS, we envision a world where everyone has access to clean water, clean food, and clean air. Unfortunately, current remediation methods are cost-prohibitive, pose significant health threats to humans, wildlife, and the environment. In many cases, traditional remediation methods fail to eliminate the contaminants permanently – often producing toxic byproducts when incinerated or contaminants leach back into the environment if landfilled.
ecoSPEARS utilizes green remediation technologies developed by NASA to eliminate harmful toxins from the environment, protecting human health and wildlife. Our technology is based on a simple idea: meet the challenges of the world’s growing population, we need innovative environmental cleanup technologies that will protect the environment and human health while destroying contaminants – forever.
What can the average person do to make a difference?
The average person can make a difference by advocating for green remediation solutions and staying informed on environmental issues that pose severe threats to the environment and human health.
