The $3 Billion Electric Trucking Industry

Share

As the whole world moves towards using Electric Vehicles, a lot of infrastructure has to take place in order to accommodate the energy needed and the charging systems to keep the vehicles moving. The electric trucking industry is under a huge transformation, as the trucking industry itself is worth over $45 billion dollars, you can imagine there is a lot of opportunity for disruption. One company, Electric Miles, and their CEO Arun Anand, has big plans for how they are going to change it.

What is Electric Miles?

Electric Miles is a cleantech company developing the world’s most intelligent Internet of Energy (IoE) electric vehicle charging solution. They connect EV assets and home batteries with the best computer intelligence to help users save energy costs, be more efficient, and reduce overall energy.

Using the power of artificial intelligence and machine learning, the platform selects the most intelligent charging schedule combining low tariffs, vehicle journey needs, and a low carbon footprint, and automatically initiates and terminates vehicle charging to reduce user inefficiency that drives up costs.

The National Grid is facing increasing and significant stress due to the massive electrification of transportation fleets. The various grid companies offer flexible contracts to demand-side aggregators such as Electric Miles to solve this problem.

Tell us a little bit about you and your background:

I am Arun Anand, Founder CEO of Electric Miles, I am a serial entrepreneur and Engineer with 15 years’ experience in the Energy Sector. As you know EVs are on the rise and I was one of the early adopter. I was hit by high electricity bills and was frustrated about guessing when and how much to charge. Hence, I built my own prototype to solve the problem which today is Electric Miles.

Arun Anand, CEO of Electric Miles

What is a fun fact about you?

I love playing poker.

Why do you think climate change and sustainability is such an important topic today?

Hugely important for the betterment of society. In the rapidly changing environment that EVs will bring, it will be necessary to improve forecasting through better demand data and network asset information, deploy smart system solutions to defer or avoid the need for investment, upgrade policy and regulations to achieve timely investment through appropriate incentivisation and risk sharing, and adopt a more whole systems approach.

What do you envision your industry looking like 10 years from now?

Electric Miles will deliver decarbonization of Energy through simplifying customer experience by providing seamless integration and management of the growing complexity within the Energy ecosystem.

What can the average person do to make a difference?

Reduce their personal carbon footprint on the environment.

Arun, thank you for being here today to discuss your vision for the electric trucking industry.
