The Future Of Renewable Energy Jobs

Going Green has spoken with hundreds of leaders in the renewable energy and clean technology space. One thing that everyone can agree on is that we will continue to see growth in the industry. With new growth comes job opportunities for those who want to build a career in an environment that allows them to support themselves financially, and also have a job that is rewarding. We had the opportunity to speak with Catherine McLean, the founder of Dylan Green, to discuss the future of renewable energy jobs.

In 2017, McLean Ross merged with global engineering recruitment business JDR Energy, forming JD Ross Energy. Combining her entrepreneurial skills and reputation for networking and referral-based recruitment, Catherine launched Dylan Green in 2019, placing commercial professionals within the clean energy technology market.

Let’s get to know Catherine a little bit better. What caused you to get into your industry?

I developed a passion for clean energy and technology in 2011. I worked at the United Nations developing relationships with governments on public-private partnerships and subsequently took a job as a Consultant at Acre Resources, a global recruitment firm focused on energy and sustainability.

In 2019, in an effort to help contribute to the fight against climate change, I launched my recruitment business in the United States. With Dylan Green, both candidates and clients can be assured they have a dedicated individual who operates with a high level of integrity, supporting them throughout the entire process. Dylan Green is largely focused on the rapidly developing clean energy and technology sector, covering niche markets within renewable energy, information technology, and green transportation.

Catherine McLean, the founder of Dylan Green

What trends are you seeing in your industry?

Companies are starting to put plans in place and implement those plans around diversity, equity, and inclusion within their hiring practices and company cultures.

What is one Action Item for our listeners and viewers to take away from this conversation?

Anyone can attract a diverse candidate pool – you have be deliberate.

What is a fun fact about you?

I’m a Facebook marketplace addict, both buyer and seller.

Where do you see your industry ten years from now?

Increasingly hiring oil and gas professionals to help with the clean energy transition. DEI not being such an “issue” and hopefully being more widely adopted and inherent.

Women in Energy

Dylan Green places a strong emphasis on diversity and women in energy. I am very passionate about diversity and the challenges facing women in the energy industry. Find out more about diversity challenges within the energy industry by reading the latest focus article by Dylan Green, or watching Catherine’s video series.

Going Green wants to thank Catherine for taking the time to share your thoughts on the future of Renewable Energy jobs.

Catherine is an upcoming guest on the Going Green podcast. Our goal on Going Green is to bring you the latest in green technology advancements, while also giving you action items to takeaway and apply to your life. We focus a lot on energy, transportation, finance, A.I. Technology, and media.
