This week, Green connected with Barbara Monacella, the marketing manager with Ipsun Solar. As a certified B Corp, Ipsun is leading the charge in residential and commercial solar, as well as EV charging and solar battery systems.
In addition to solar hardware, Ipsun Tech recently released Sunvoy, an App that provides solar installers with their own branded customer portal and review & referral management system. It also gives a solar company the tools to manage their own fleet and performance monitoring.
Ipsun Solar is revolutionizing the industry from start to finish – let’s learn more about how this company is charging it’s mission from Head of Marketing, Barbara Monacella!
Tell us a little bit about you, your background, and your current role:
I am the marketing manager at Ipsun Solar. I am responsible for telling the story of our company, whose mission it is to fight climate change by installing as many solar panels as we can. My background is actually in the snow sports industry, and I came to the solar industry because I saw the destruction climate change was having in the mountains and on the industry I loved. I’m also a mom of two teen girls and I am concerned about their future. This led me to join the climate advocacy group Mothers Out Front. I have my own local group of moms who work on local issues and I also sit on the group’s National Leadership Team.
What is a fun fact about you?
I work seven days a week in the winter because I teach skiing at our local resort on Saturdays and Sundays.
Why do you think climate change and sustainability is such an important topic today?
Because our future is at stake. It is beyond any issue or crisis our country, or humanity, has ever faced. It is so much worse than most people understand, and happening much faster than any of us expected. It is truly terrifying. Important topic is putting it lightly.
What do you envision your industry looking like 10 years from now?
My hope is that my industry will be the dominant source of energy, along with wind power, in ten years. If that doesn’t end up being true then we are truly cooked. I envision us growing faster than we can imagine and scrambling to keep up but knowing we must because people’s lives and the beauty of our fragile planet are at stake.
What can the average person do to make a difference?
Write, call, and show up at your legislator’s offices as often as possible–and urge your friends to do the same. If the people who have the ability to make change aren’t urged to do so by their constituents, then nothing will change.
