Green.org sat down with Ronnie Ebanks, the Founder and President of SaveSorb, to discuss how their patented technology to soak up oil spills.

What is SaveSorb?

SaveSorb is a totally natural, sustainable plant material. Using a proprietary method, it is dried, sieved, blended and pH balanced to create the most effective absorbent of hydrocarbons (oil based compounds) and chemicals available.

SaveSorb absorbs almost all hydrocarbons, chemicals and their vapors. It encapsulates them within its molecular structure and will not leach contaminants into the environment, even under pressure SaveSorb is very safe to handle. In its natural state our product partially absorbs the fumes, making it useful for cleaning up small spills containing flammable liquids.

Ronnie, Thanks for being here. Tell us a little bit about you and your background:

I am from the Cayman Islands and moved to US 1971. When I was six years old I was a horse jockey for ten years, and then a Sports Agent for jockeys from the ages of 24 – 53. I have run multiple businesses and now I am the Co-Founder & Present Full Owner of SaveSorb. I am the Father of two grown kids ages 34 & 38 and I am the Grandfather of 13 year old granddaughter. I currently live in Marina Del Rey, California, right by the beach with my wife Jasmine and mini Australian Shepard “Konka”.

Ronnie Ebanks, the Founder and President of SaveSorb

What is a fun fact about you?

Quit racing for 14 months 2004 to play On World Poker Tour , now a semi- professional player

Why do you think climate change and sustainability is such an important topic today?

Climate Change and Sustainability is important because all the rapid weather changes globally is detrimental to our future and being caused by us humans.

What do you envision your industry looking like 10 years from now?

Waking up to change to green eco friendly options for hazardous clean up because of our voice and push at SaveSorb to spread awareness.

What can the average person do to make a difference?

The average person can start at-home recycling, cutting out one use plastics, and overall living a more environment conscious life.

Ronnie, thank you for sharing how your company is using new technology to soak up oil spills.
